First Letter to Baby

Dear Baby,

I can’t believe that it’s been 22 weeks since you’ve begun your journey into our lives, into your life. That means that we have roughly 18 more weeks to go which seems like it will fly by. I’ve started to feel you move around more. The other night at Yoga class, you loved the inversion, and at the ultrasound yesterday, you moved a lot – it must have been all of that prodding.

We are so excited that you are a little girl. It seems strange to call you “my daughter” but that is what you are. We now know a little bit more about you and have just begun speculating what your personality might be like.

As much as we never want to put you in any boxes, we’ve already begun to do so. We have dreams for you that may not be something you’re interested in. Dreams that include everything from what kind of activities we’d like you to do to what kind of character we’d like you to have. It was amazing hearing your Daddy on the phone today talking about how he doesn’t want you to get into “princess stuff” or “too much pink.” Of course I feel mostly the same way, but who knows what you will end up liking or what you’re favorite color will be.

Aside from the two of us, there’s another one who will live here. It’s Bandit. Of course, he will love you mostly for all the food you’ll drop on the floor, and because you’ll probably let him lick you as much as he wants to and because you’ll love playing with him. But I have a feeling that he is going to be protective of you and love you just as much, if not more, than he loves us.

There is so much more I’d like to say to you, but I’ll stop for now. Know that from the moment we had a big fat positive on the pee stick, we started to love you and our love has already grown so much since that day.

Hugs and Kisses,

Your Mama

is she old enough to know what a pee stick is? just trying to preserve her innocence, you know.

what a beautiful note. it reminds me so much of when i was pregnant with alexa over 10 years ago...hard to believe! I remember us not wanting her to be into pink. we took everything back that was pink and exchanged it:) haha...her favorite color is pink now and we even painted her room pink. i have learned to like pink. sometimes i even wear it myself:) all three of my girls have loved the princesses. They aren't obsessed...so i can handle it:) having a girl is an amazing privilege. i am so happy you are having one.
